THE ROYAL TRADITION OF SLEEPING COMFORT

The use of Eider duck down for sleeping comfort can be traced back to the ancient time, when the royal families and elites often demanded the finest in every part of their exquisite lifestyles. Iceland Eiderdown is considered the world’s most precious down filling and the finest of all that ever exists.

The Eider duck is a protected animal, which lives along Icelandic coasts. Finding it is a rare event and thus, its down is a true masterpiece of nature. Only once a year, the duck cushions carefully the nest for the young lives. Many small ramifications stick the down cluster together like barnacles – even a strong Arctic tempest is not able to blow them out of the nest.

Not until the young birds have left, the down is gathered from the abandoned nests. During 8 hours of manual work 1 kg eiderdown is collected from ca. 60 nests. Already a fistful of such down – 1000 down clusters have a weight of ca. one gram – develops comforting warmth, noticeable within seconds.

Their inherent quality of constant warmth keeping and insulation efficiency is singular and unsurpassed by none. Since there is only a limited number of these animals the Eider duck down filling is extremely rare
